MAYS LANDING- A Somers Point man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses in connection to the Nov. 22 fatal shooting in Atlantic City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
Oshshakkur Derrick, 24, is charged with the following offenses:

- Felony murder
- Kidnapping
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
- Attempted Robbery
- Robbery
- Attempted Murder
On Sunday, November 22, 2020 at approximately 12:43 a.m., Atlantic City Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a man shot in a home located in the 100 block of N. Pennsylvania Ave., Atlantic City, NJ. Upon arrival, police located Jose Ortiz, 36, of Egg Harbor Township suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center City Campus where he was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy was completed on Ortiz and the cause of death was identified as a gunshot wound. The manner of death was identified as homicide.
This remains an ongoing investigation and cooperative investigation by the ACPO Major Crimes Unit, the Atlantic City Police Department and the Somers Point Police Department.
