MAYS LANDING– A 31 year-old Northfield man was sentenced Friday morning, following a December conviction for charges connected to a home invasion and burglary in Northfield, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Kevin L. White Jr. was sentenced on Friday to nine years in New Jersey state prison and must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, subject to the No Early Release Act (NERA). The sentence was imposed on two counts of second-degree Burglary, which were ordered to run concurrent.
At approximately 1:48 a.m., on November 20, 2016, the Northfield Police Department responded to 242 Jackson Avenue for a report of a home invasion burglary. The victim told police that she was asleep in bed with her two year-old son when she woke up and saw her neighbor from across the street, White Jr., entering her bedroom. When she screamed, the
White laid on top of her as she rolled her back over on her son to protect him. The defendant told her to stop screaming or he would kill her son. The defendant tried to drag her out of her bedroom into another room, but she managed to get away from the defendant after fighting back in the hallway area and the defendant fled.
Assistant Prosecutor Chris D’Esposito represents the state in the matter. The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Danielle Kratky, Northfield Police Department and Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
