NATIONAL NAVY DAY: MEET THE ACPO DETECTIVES WHO SERVE IN THE U.S. NAVY


MAYS LANDING- On NATIONAL NAVY DAY, annually observed on October 27th, we salute all of military personnel, along with our own ACPO staff members, who have served, both past and present, in the United States Navy.
“The service and sacrifice that is carried out by ACPO detectives, prosecutors and staff members who also serve in our country’s military branches represents the epitome of a commitment to public service. On National Navy Day, I give my honor and gratitude to ACPO Det. Carlos Collado and Det. Christopher Southard who both serve Atlantic County and our country in the U.S. Navy,” said Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.
Currently ACPO Det. Carlos Collado serves in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. Det. Collado has previously served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve for 9 ½ years. Det. Collado also has served as a Patrolman at the Pleasantville Police Department and a Parole Officer at the NJ State Parole Board.
ACPO Det. Christopher Southard enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998 and served through 2004. After his Naval service, Det. Southard then moved on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps where he currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel.
“As the Chief of County Detectives, I would like to take a moment to applaud and thank Detectives Collado and Southard for their service in the U.S. Navy, defending our great nation and also for their commitment to serving our county’s residents at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. ACPO appreciates the military service and sacrifices of so many of our agency’s staff members who serve county and country,” Atlantic County Chief of County Detectives Bruce K. DeShields said.
On this NATIONAL NAVY DAY and every day, we thank you for your service to our country and Atlantic County, Det. Collado and Det. Southard!
