ATLANTIC COUNTY — An Atlantic County Grand Jury handed down an indictment on July 27, 2021, against an Atlantic City man for 2 counts of Strict Liability Homicide and multiple narcotics offenses in connection to the drug related deaths of two men from the United Kingdom in March 2020, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced.
Tyrell Gist, 24, is indicted with the following offenses:
2 Counts of 1st degree Strict Liability Homicide, Drug Related Death
5 Counts of 2nd degree Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 Feet of a public park
1 Count of 3rd degree Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 1000 feet of a school zone
6 Count of 3rd degree Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
5 Count of 3rd degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
2 Money Laundering 3rd degree
Last month, Gist was taken into custody by detectives of the ACPO Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit following an extensive drug related death investigation of the overdose deaths of Scott P. Jordon, 43, and Simon Gamble, 40, both of the United Kingdom.
On March 8, 2020, detectives of the ACPO Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit responded to Bally’s Casino room 3241 upon notification of two drug related deaths. Upon arrival at the room Jordan and Gamble were located inside and were deceased. As the investigation into these two drug related deaths continued and based on surveillance video obtained from the Bally’s Casino, Gist was immediately identified as a suspect. Further investigation and lab analysis of the CDS from toxicology reports as well as CDS that was seized from the room of the victims and also from Gist, ultimately resulted in charges against him in connection to the homicides.
