MAYS LANDING- On Wednesday morning, Lawrence Achey was sworn in by Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner as a new detective with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prior to being employed with the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office, Detective Achey first gained an interest in law enforcement when he attended Rowan University, where he began his career as a SLEO with the Ocean City Police Department for 3 years.
In 2014, Det. Achey graduated from Rowan University with a Masters degree in Criminal Justice prior to beginning his employment as a police officer with Washington Township where he continued his career for 5 years.
At Washington Township, Det. Achey gained experience in patrol, traffic, training, and investigations and earned certifications as a fatal crash reconstructionist, firearms instructor, motorcycle officer, and PT instructor. He stated that during this time, he developed a particular interest with investigations which led him to pursue a career as a detective with the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office.
Det. Achey stated that he is excited to further his career with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and is looking forward to his future with this agency.
