Unresolved Homicide Tips

The Unresolved Case Protocol at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is to systematically review, categorize and continue to investigate unresolved cases to increase the likelihood of an eventual solution.

It is policy of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office that unresolved cases will be systematically evaluated for solvability and prioritized for further investigation and periodic case status review.

An Unresolved Case is defined as any investigation involving murder, suspicious death, missing person under suspicious circumstances that has been inactive for more than three (3) years, or any other type of investigation which the Atlantic County Prosecutor assigns for unresolved case review.

The Unit Commander of the ACPO Major Crimes Unit is tasked with evaluating unresolved cases to determine if assignment for further investigation is appropriate.
