DETENTION HEARINGS TO BE HELD THURSDAY FOR JAMES KAUFFMAN & 4 OTHER DEFENDANTS ARRESTED LAST WEEK

MAYS LANDING-James Kauffman and four other defendants, charged in connection to the murder of April Kauffman, as well as, conspiracy and racketeering, will have their first appearances Thursday, January 11, 2018, following a cooperative investigation between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the FBI and other multiple law enforcement agencies, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

All of the detention hearings will be held at the Atlantic County Courthouse, before Presiding Judge Bernard DeLury, on Thursday, January 18, 2018, starting at 9 a.m.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seth Levy represents the State. Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. James Scoppa Jr., and FBI Special Agent Daniel A. Garrabrant are the lead investigators on the case.

The investigation and arrests were the result of a joint operation between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the FBI, Linwood, Egg Harbor Township, Somers Point and Lower Township police departments and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
