MAYS LANDING– A 41 year-old man was sentenced this morning for multiple narcotics charges and bail jumping, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
Dakwan Taylor, of Brooklyn, NY, was sentenced today before Judge Podolnick for an aggregate sentence of 20 years in New Jersey state prison and he must serve 9 years before he is eligible for parole.
Taylor was sentenced on the following charges:
- Certain Person not to Possess a Firearm
- 2nd degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS
- Two counts of 3rd degree Possession with the intent to Distribute CDS
- Bail jumping
Taylor pleaded guilty to the charges mentioned above on Aug. 29, 2017, and on Aug. 30, 2017, he was arrested for 3rd degree Possession with Intent to Distribute. Defendant failed to appear at sentencing and as a result he was indicted for Bail Jumping. Taylor was later arrested in Sussex County, DE, for drug dealing and possession of a firearm during a felony. He was sentenced as a habitual offender in Delaware to three consecutive 4year terms, 12 years in total. Once sentenced in Delaware, Taylor was transported back to New Jersey.
Taylor’s aggregate sentence handed down today of 20 years in New Jersey state prison, must serve 9 years will run concurrent to his 12 year Delaware sentence.
