ATLANTIC CITY MAN RECEIVES PRISON SENTENCE OF 25 YEARS FOR WEAPONS CHARGES


MAYS LANDING – Terri Bailey, of Atlantic City was sentenced  weapons charges on Friday before Judge Donna Taylor to 25 years in New Jersey state prison, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Judge Taylor found that a discretionary extended term was warranted under the law and imposed a sentence of 25 years with a 12 ½ years parole in eligibility for a charge of first degree possession of handgun by a person previously convicted of a (No Early Release Act) NERA offense.

After a three day trial, Bailey 43, was convicted on June 26, 2019, by an Atlantic County jury.

On March 29, 2018, Atlantic City police Officers responded to ShotSpotter in the area of the 600 block of North Martin Luther King Boulevard and received information as to possible suspects. Officers observed a male matching the description, who was with two other males, one of which being the defendant, Bailey. In the course of the investigation, Bailey took off running, and in the process discarded a handgun, observed by officers. Bailey ran into School House Apartments and was later arrested by officers of the Atlantic City Police Department on April 5, 2018.

Assistant Prosecutor Deirdre Laws represents the state with the assistance of Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Trial Detectives. The investigation was led by the Atlantic City Police Department.
