ATLANTIC CITY MAN CONVICTED IN STABBING OF FORMER GIRLFRIEND


MAYS LANDING- An Atlantic City man was convicted in the May 2017 stabbing of his former girlfriend, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Anthony Washington, 42, was convicted of second degree Aggravated Assault, third degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Burglary and Criminal Mischief from a May 2017 series of events.

On May 28, 2017 at approximately 2:00 A.M., members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to the Vermont Avenue Apartment Complex in response to a 911 call for a woman being stabbed. The Police arrived on scene to find the victim who is the former girlfriend of Washington, suffering from 11 stab wounds. The victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries.

On Friday, August 31, 2018, an Atlantic County jury returned guilty verdicts after a five day trial. Sentencing is scheduled for October 12, 2018.

The State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Jake Bayak with the assistance of Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator, Detective Michelle London.
