ATLANTIC CITY MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER OF 68 YEAR-OLD NEIGHBOR


ATLANTIC CITY- A 68 year-old man was stabbed to death on Sunday afternoon and his neighbor has been charged with the killing, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, Atlantic City Police received a 911 call at 1:13 p.m., at 220 N. New Hampshire Avenue, Atlantic City Housing Authority, Inlet Towers, reporting an assault on the 12th floor in the hallway. Officers arrived on scene and were directed by witnesses to a male who was attempting to leave the scene. The male who was identified as Robert Fountaine, 32, was detained by Atlantic City Police. The victim, Thomas A. Hill was found unconscious and bleeding in the stairwell on the 11th floor.   Hill was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Campus, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. Autopsy is pending.

An investigation found that Fountaine physically assaulted and stabbed Hill in the common area/hallway outside of their apartments.

Fountaine has been charged with the following offenses:

  • First degree Murder
  • Third degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose

Fountaine is lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending further court proceedings. The investigation is a cooperative effort between the ACPO Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department.
