ACPO MAJOR CRIMES UNIT INVESTIGATING FATAL PLEASANTVILLE SHOOTING


PLEASANTVILLE- The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department are actively investigating a shooting that occurred on Thursday, April 8, 2021, that left one man dead and two others wounded, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

On Thursday at 2:57 p.m., 911 calls were received at the Pleasantville Police Department, reporting that victims had been shot on the 100 block of Linden Avenue.

Pleasantville Police Officers responded to the scene and located Maurice Hampton, aka “Abdul Hamid”, 26, of Pleasantville who had been shot and killed. An autopsy is being performed today.

The two 18 year-old shooting victims who survived are identified as Messiah Burton and Shilameen Henderson, both of Pleasantville. The men were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus.

This cooperative investigation between the ACPO Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department is active and ongoing.
