ATLANTIC CITY MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN FATAL SHOOTING OF 17 YEAR OLD

MAYS LANDING- An Atlantic City man has been charged in the Aug. 9, fatal shooting of a 17 year-old male, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Rahsaad Norwood

, 21, is charged with first degree Murder, second degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun and second degree Possession of Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

The 17 year-old male—also of Atlantic City—was shot to death on Aug. 9, 2018, in the area of Baltic and Tennessee Avenues, Atlantic City.

“This was a senseless crime committed in broad daylight. A 21 year old killing a 17 year old has cost society two lives. The loss of human capital from unnecessary gun violence should have everyone in our community outraged,” Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to 141 N. Tennessee Ave., Atlantic City, at 1 p.m., on Aug. 9, for the investigation of the shooting of a male. The investigation is a cooperative effort between ACPO Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department.

Norwood will have a first appearance in Atlantic County Superior Court on Monday Aug. 13. Assistant Prosecutor Rick McKelvey represents the state in the matter.
