MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty Thursday in connection to the sexual assault of a child, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
Montgomery Bishop, 52, pleaded guilty to 2nd degree Sexual Assault for Inappropriate Sexual Contact with a Child under the age of 13. Bishop pleaded guilty before Judge Bernard DeLury for an incident that occurred on August 5, 2017. Bishop admitted to engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with the 9 year-old child for the purpose of humiliating or degrading the child.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Bishop will be sentenced to 5 years New Jersey State Prison, of which he must serve 85% before being eligible for parole. He will also be subject to Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life. Sentencing is currently scheduled for May 31, 2018.
The case was a joint investigation between ACPO’s Special Victim’s Unit and ACPD. The State is represented by Acting Chief Assistant Prosecutor Danielle S. Buckley.
