ATLANTIC CITY MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING DEATH OF MAN


MAYS LANDING- An Atlantic City man, has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of another city man on March 12, 2018, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Howard Cassell, 30, has been charged in the death of Da’Quan Montague, 23, also of Atlantic City, from a shooting that occurred March 12, 2018, in the area of 18 North New Jersey Avenue in Atlantic City. Cassell has been charged with second degree Reckless Manslaughter, second degree Possession of a Firearm without a Permit and second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He is lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20, at 1:30 p.m.

A third involved male, Tajai Hicks–Anderson, 23, also of Atlantic City, was charged with third degree Aggravated Assault and released on a summons.

The cooperative investigation was conducted by ACPO and the Atlantic City Police Department. Assistant Prosecutor Rick McKelvey represents the state.
